As part of their Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) Project, 4 Salvation Army Childcare Centres, came from all around Singapore on 22 April 2016 to celebrate Earth Day. It was a sea of orange bucket hats when the 8 buses carrying the children gathered at East Coast Park for a morning of fun-filled activities to celebrate Earth Day. About 200 children and teachers took part in this meaningful event, and some even came with their very own earth day temporary tattoo! The programme began with a warm-up by Ms Grace Victoria who did a 5-min wash-up jingle with the children. All the children truly enjoyed the workout. Next was the highlight for the programme where children pasted their hand prints on a globe to signify their pledge to do their bit for the environment, e.g. I promise not to waste electricity.
The children then broke into smaller groups for activities among the centres. It was indeed a good time for bonding and interaction among the children of the Salvation Army family. Their activities all made use of natural or recycled materials which was really earth-friendly.
Before setting off home, the children had some time to enjoy a picnic by the beach. It was indeed a great event for the children to learn about sustainable living and also be in touch with the environment. Preschool Market is very glad to be a partner for this event.
