Music in a Garden

Create music using natural materials found in the garden.

Materials:

• Stones

• Branches

• Leaves

• Pebbles

• Sand

• Twigs

• Seeds

• Fruits

• Used bottles

Step 1:

Ask the child to find natural materials in the garden and put them into the paper bag. With the materials gathered, put them into the individual bottles. Ask the children to name the natural materials and identify the source.

Step 2:

Ask the child to think of ways to create music. Suggest ways such as rubbing, hitting, or banging the materials. Play the ‘instruments’ to an existing song or compose a new song and perform the song for family and friends.
