Coloured sand alike can be used in play or any art and crafts activity. It is very flexible and easy to create. Furthermore, it is much more cheaper than real sand. You can use salt that is long-lasting and easy to get in any supermarket.

Materials:
Fine or coarse salt
Food colouring
Zip bags

Step 1:
With a spoon, divide 3kg into different portions (according to the number of colours you want) and put them into separate zip bags.
Step 2:
Place a few drops of food colouring into the bag.
Step 3:
Zip the bag and have your child rub the bag so that the colour is evenly mixed. This will take about a minute. Leave the coloured salt to dry for 2 – 4 hours.
Step 4:
Repeat the steps for the other colours. The coloured salt can be used for art and crafts and can be kept in containers for months.
